Your child’s first dental visit

The team at Carolina Pediatric Dentistry is highly qualified to create an educational, enjoyable and positive first dental exam for your child. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Academy of Pediatrics both recommend that your child’s first dental visit be around 1 year of age. The easiest way to remember this is first tooth, first dentist visit.

Dr. Green recommends children first visit her office between 12 – 18 months of age.

This is a sound health recommendation: Children who have their first dental experience when they are young are more likely to have a favorable outlook toward dental care throughout life. You, as a parent, play a very important role in helping your child have a positive attitude toward dental care. To make your first visit to our office easier, download our new patient forms here, fill them out and bring them with you on your first appointment.

We don’t use bad words

We strive to make your child’s first dental visit fun, educational and pleasant for you and your child. Children haven’t been to the dentist before, so they don’t know what to expect. It is really important for the parent to be positive and encouraging about the first dental visit. If you have had a bad experience at the dentist’s office, please don’t share that experience with your children. The calmer you are, the calmer your child will be. It is best if you refrain from using words around your child that might cause unnecessary fear, such as needle, pull, drill or hurt.

We don’t use those words in our office, so your child will never hear scary words at our office.

Our office environment

Your children will love our colorful wall murals.

Your children will love our colorful wall murals.

As a mother of two children, Dr. Green understands how important it is to keep children happy. With the help of a muralist, Dr. Green has created a special “beach” just for her patients.

Our office walls are playfully adorned with all sorts of whimsical characters (some of which have made their presence known on our website!) to keep your little ones enchanted and happy. We have sea turtles, dolphins, turtles, clams, snails and more. We even have a sand castle perfect for little ones to play inside.

We pride ourselves on providing quality dental care for children in a colorful, fun, creative environment.
